Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and thorough Warehouse Spill Response Cleaner to join our team in Ithaca, NY. This essential role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our busy distribution center, with a primary focus on immediate spill response and general janitorial duties. No prior experience in spill response is required, as comprehensive training will be provided. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to all liquid and dry material spills in the warehouse, utilizing appropriate cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Perform general janitorial duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waste removal in designated areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, sweepers, and power washers safely and effectively.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock of cleaning supplies and report needs to supervisor.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies regarding chemical handling and waste disposal.
- Assist with other facilities maintenance tasks as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized janitorial closet and equipment storage area.
Required Skills
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe usage (training provided).
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), and carry for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a janitorial or cleaning role (not required, but a plus).
- Experience operating basic cleaning machinery.
