Job Description

Raley’s is seeking an Experienced Butcher / Meat Cutter to join our dedicated team in Antioch, CA. This unique opportunity is open to highly skilled individuals who may require sponsorship through a Skilled Worker Visa Route to relocate to the United States. As an integral part of our Meat Department, you will be responsible for preparing and merchandising a wide variety of high-quality meats, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. We are looking for a professional with proven experience in all aspects of meat cutting, who is passionate about delivering premium products and contributing to a positive team environment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of different cuts and preparations.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind various types of meat (beef, pork, poultry, lamb) according to company standards and customer requests.
• Operate and maintain all meat department equipment safely and efficiently, including saws, grinders, and slicers.
• Prepare and arrange attractive meat displays to maximize sales and minimize waste.
• Ensure proper labeling, pricing, and rotation of all meat products.
• Provide exceptional customer service, assisting customers with selections, offering cooking advice, and responding to inquiries.
• Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations (HACCP, USDA, state, and local health codes).
• Monitor inventory levels, receive and store meat deliveries properly.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and display cases regularly.
• Assist in training new team members as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Required Skills

• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Butcher or Meat Cutter.
• Proficient knife skills and experience with various meat cutting tools and equipment.
• Strong knowledge of different meat cuts, preparation techniques, and merchandising.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and inventory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational training or certification in meat cutting or culinary arts.
• Experience with specialty cuts or charcuterie.
• Fluency in additional languages beyond English.
• Prior experience in a high-volume retail grocery environment.
