Job Description
Service Stream Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fiber Splicer to join our growing team in Perth, Western Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical NBN infrastructure and various private network projects, ensuring high-quality, reliable telecommunication services across the region. As a Skilled Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic cables in various environments. Your expertise will be crucial in expanding and maintaining our robust fiber networks, contributing directly to Australia’s digital future.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables according to industry and NBN standards.
- Terminate fiber optic cables in various enclosures, ODFs, and panels.
- Conduct comprehensive testing of fiber optic networks using OTDR, OPM, and VFL equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot fiber network faults and undertake necessary repairs.
- Read and interpret design plans, schematics, and work orders.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of splicing activity, test results, and inventory.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Fiber Splicer, specifically with NBN and private network projects.
- Proficiency in fusion splicing techniques and equipment operation.
- Competency in using OTDR, OPM, and VFL for testing and fault identification.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic cable types, connectors, and network architectures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Confined Space, Working at Heights, NBN Enablement).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with diverse fiber optic cabling systems and environments.
- White Card (Construction Induction).
