Job Description
Are you handy with tools and love seeing a product come to life from its components? IKEA Australia is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Flat Pack Assemblers to join our casual retail support team in Southbank. This flexible role is perfect for individuals who enjoy practical work, have a keen eye for detail, and are eager to assist customers. You will be responsible for efficiently and accurately assembling IKEA’s range of flat-pack furniture, ensuring products are ready for display or customer collection, and providing general support within our retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble a wide variety of flat-pack furniture and products according to IKEA instructions and quality standards.
- Ensure all assembled items are stable, secure, and aesthetically pleasing.
- Conduct quality checks on assembled items to identify and rectify any defects or missing parts.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Provide friendly and helpful support to customers regarding product assembly or general inquiries.
- Assist with moving, merchandising, and organising stock within the retail space as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily objectives.
Required Skills
- Basic manual dexterity and comfort using common hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.).
- Ability to read and accurately follow assembly instructions and diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Problem-solving skills to overcome minor assembly challenges.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Customer service orientation and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with furniture assembly, whether professional or personal.
- Experience working in a retail or warehouse environment.
