Job Description
As a Fleet Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of our diverse fleet of vehicles. This involves overseeing maintenance schedules, diagnosing complex issues, implementing preventative measures, and working with a team of technicians. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive fleet maintenance programs to maximize vehicle uptime.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues across various vehicle types.
- Oversee and manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, providing technical guidance and fostering skill development.
- Optimize fleet reliability through proactive preventative maintenance and efficient repair strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities and vehicle history.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to schedule and coordinate vehicle availability for maintenance.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methods to continuously improve fleet efficiency and performance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in fleet maintenance, heavy equipment, or automotive repair.
- Strong understanding of vehicle diagnostics, repair principles, and preventative maintenance strategies.
- Proficiency with modern fleet management software and advanced diagnostic tools.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Professional certifications such as ASE, Lean Six Sigma, or similar.
- Extensive experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and refrigeration units.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or management role within a fleet maintenance setting.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance standards.
