Job Description

Are you passionate about food, eager to learn, and thrive in a lively, fast-paced environment? Street Eats Co. is looking for an enthusiastic Food Truck Chef’s Assistant to join our mobile kitchen crew! This is an incredible opportunity for someone who loves being hands-on, enjoys the buzz of a busy food truck, and wants to learn the ins and outs of street food preparation and service. You’ll work alongside our head chef, contributing to all aspects of our daily operations, from prep to serving up smiles. No extensive experience required – we’re looking for positive energy and a willingness to dive in and learn!

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all food safety and hygiene standards are met.
  • Help with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and rotating stock.
  • Support the service window during peak hours, taking orders and interacting positively with customers.
  • Assist with setting up and packing down the food truck before and after events.
  • Learn and master new recipes and cooking techniques specific to our menu.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in food and cooking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 25kg.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of food hygiene (e.g., Level 1 Food Safety Certificate).
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or customer service role (even if informal).
  • A valid UK driving license (desirable but not essential).
