Job Description

Island Bites Food Co. is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Chef’s Assistant to join our fun and friendly team! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves being part of a lively scene and wants to contribute to creating delicious food. You’ll gain hands-on experience in food preparation, customer service, and food truck operations, all while enjoying a supportive team and great perks. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chef with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling dishes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, ensuring all food safety standards are met.
- Help with cooking and serving food to customers during peak hours.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with loading and unloading supplies for the food truck.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and the food truck interior at the end of each shift.
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service, taking orders and answering questions about our menu.
- Support inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and notifying the Chef of low supplies.
Required Skills
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Basic understanding of food safety principles (training provided).
- Team player with a good sense of humor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or customer service role is a plus, but not required.
- Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
- Familiarity with local Charlottetown food scene.
