Job Description
We are seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our team as Ginger Pickers. This role is crucial to ensuring our customers receive the freshest produce. You will be responsible for the careful selection, harvesting, and initial processing of ginger within our agricultural operations or distribution centres. High rates are offered for dedicated team members, with immediate openings available. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the fresh produce industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually pick ginger according to specified quality standards and harvesting techniques.
- Inspect produce for quality, ripeness, and defects, ensuring only the best ginger is selected.
- Carefully place picked ginger into designated containers, minimising damage.
- Transport harvested produce to sorting or packing areas as required.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all hygiene and safety protocols.
- Operate basic farm equipment safely after receiving appropriate training.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively in various weather conditions, including heat and humidity.
- Strong attention to detail for quality inspection.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a horticultural, agricultural, or manual labour role (not essential, but an advantage).
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
- Availability to work early mornings and weekends during peak seasons.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the work site.
