Job Description

Join the Lowe’s team as a Hardware Store Lumber Loader. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of lumber and building materials, ensuring our customers receive excellent service and our yard remains organized. This physically demanding position requires consistent heavy lifting and a commitment to safety. You will play a key part in maintaining our inventory and assisting customers with loading their purchases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload lumber and other building materials from delivery trucks and customer vehicles.
  • Organize and maintain the lumber yard, ensuring materials are stored correctly and accessible.
  • Operate forklifts or other heavy machinery as required (with proper certification/training).
  • Assist customers with material selection and provide loading assistance.
  • Verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing lumber orders.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Perform routine checks on equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly (up to 50-75 lbs).
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and counting materials.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a lumber yard, warehouse, or similar physically demanding role.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with building materials.
