Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Visitor to join our community team in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. This vital role involves working with families to promote health, prevent illness, and identify developmental needs in children from birth to five years old. You will be responsible for delivering the Healthy Child Programme, offering support and advice on a wide range of health issues, and safeguarding the welfare of children within the community. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the Healthy Child Programme to families, including home visits and clinic appointments.
- Undertake comprehensive health assessments for children aged 0-5 years and their families.
- Provide expert advice and support on infant feeding, child development, parenting, and public health issues.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, collaborating with multi-agency partners.
- Develop individualised health plans in partnership with families, ensuring culturally sensitive care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in clinical supervision and continuous professional development activities.
Required Skills
- NMC registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Sound knowledge of child development, public health principles, and safeguarding procedures.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Health Visitor in a community setting.
- Additional training in areas such as infant feeding, mental health first aid, or specific child health conditions.
- Experience with electronic patient record systems.
