Job Description

Are you passionate about plants, nature, and working outdoors? The Municipalité de Matane is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a Horticulture & Botanical Garden Intern. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in horticultural practices, garden maintenance, and public green space management. You will work closely with our experienced team, learning fundamental skills in plant care, garden design principles, and sustainable landscaping. This role is primarily outdoor, requiring physical activity and a love for working directly with the natural environment. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planting, weeding, pruning, and watering of garden beds and green spaces.
  • Learn and apply techniques for soil preparation, fertilization, and pest management.
  • Participate in the maintenance of pathways, signage, and other garden infrastructure.
  • Help with the propagation and care of various plant species.
  • Operate basic garden tools and equipment safely under supervision.
  • Contribute to the aesthetic appeal and overall health of municipal botanical areas.
  • Document plant growth and garden conditions as required.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and horticultural best practices.
