Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Lawyer to join our growing team at our Mansfield office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of immigration matters, providing expert legal advice, and representing clients across a wide range of immigration issues. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute significantly to our firm’s immigration practice, assisting individuals and families through complex legal processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice to clients on all aspects of UK immigration law and procedures.
- Prepare, draft, and submit a variety of immigration applications, including but not limited to Skilled Worker visas, Family visas, Indefinite Leave to Remain, and British Citizenship.
- Represent clients in immigration appeals and tribunals as required, preparing necessary documentation and arguments.
- Conduct thorough legal research to ensure advice and applications are compliant with the latest immigration legislation, policies, and case law.
- Manage client relationships effectively, ensuring clear communication, professional service, and timely updates on case progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files and case management records in compliance with SRA regulations and internal firm procedures.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for business development and marketing within the immigration sector.
- Participate in firm meetings, training sessions, and contribute to the overall success of the legal team.
Required Skills
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales.
- Minimum of 2 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) specifically in UK immigration law.
- Demonstrable expertise in various immigration routes, including Points-Based System applications, family migration, asylum, and human rights claims.
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, and client care skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a demanding caseload independently and efficiently, meeting tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- High level of professional integrity and ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accreditation under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme (IAAS) at Senior Caseworker level or above.
- Experience with judicial review applications in immigration matters.
- Fluency in an additional language relevant to the local client base (e.g., Polish, Urdu, Punjabi, Romanian).
- Previous experience supervising junior legal staff or paralegals.
