Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Music Licensing & Publishing Intern to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity for individuals eager to learn the foundational aspects of music licensing, publishing rights, and copyright management within a major record label environment. No prior experience in the music industry is required, as comprehensive training and mentorship will be provided. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in music, excellent organizational skills, and a desire to contribute to the operational success of our publishing and licensing departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the licensing team with administrative tasks, including data entry and maintaining accurate records of music usage requests.
- Support the publishing department in organizing copyright information, song registrations, and metadata management.
- Learn about and contribute to the process of clearing music for use in various media (film, TV, advertising, games).
- Help track and process licensing agreements and royalty statements under supervision.
- Conduct research on music rights holders, public domain works, and potential licensing opportunities.
- Assist with preparing presentations and reports related to publishing catalogs and licensing activities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and communication regarding music rights.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
