Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Immigration Lawyer to join our dynamic team in Stoke-on-Trent. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of immigration matters, providing expert legal advice and representation to both corporate and individual clients. This role demands a strong understanding of UK immigration law, excellent client service skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of UK immigration applications, including visa applications, extensions, indefinite leave to remain, and citizenship.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to clients on all aspects of UK immigration law, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality applications to the Home Office, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Represent clients in appeals and tribunals where necessary, preparing bundles and advocacy.
  • Conduct detailed legal research to stay abreast of changes in immigration law and policy.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring excellent service delivery.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex cases and contribute to the firm's knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Handle client billing and manage case-related administrative tasks efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales with a current practicing certificate.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience specializing in UK immigration law.
  • Demonstrable expertise in a broad range of immigration matters, including PBS, family, asylum, and human rights applications.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise clients clearly and empathetically.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Ability to manage a demanding caseload and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accreditation under the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme (IAAS) at Senior Caseworker or Supervising Caseworker level.
  • Experience in business immigration or corporate immigration matters.
  • Fluency in an additional language.
  • A proven track record of successful advocacy at immigration tribunals.
