Job Description
We are seeking a highly creative and talented Industrial Designer to join our dynamic product development team in Maidstone. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a passion for innovation and design excellence to contribute to the creation of groundbreaking Dyson products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating a keen eye for aesthetics, an understanding of user-centered design principles, and proficiency in various design tools and processes. You will work within a collaborative environment, bringing concepts to life from initial sketch to final production-ready designs. Key Responsibilities
- Generate innovative design concepts through sketching, mood boards, and 3D modeling to address project briefs and user needs.
- Develop detailed CAD models (SolidWorks, Rhino, or equivalent) and high-fidelity renderings to communicate design intent.
- Participate in user research, market analysis, and trend forecasting to inform design decisions.
- Create physical prototypes and mock-ups to test and refine designs, evaluating ergonomics, aesthetics, and functionality.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Prepare and deliver compelling design presentations to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies within the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360)
- Strong sketching and ideation skills
- Expertise in rendering software (e.g., KeyShot, V-Ray)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes and material properties
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- A strong portfolio showcasing a range of industrial design projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Industrial Design or a related field
- Experience with UI/UX design principles and software
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing, CNC machining)
- Experience in consumer electronics, home appliances, or a related product category
- Understanding of sustainable design practices and materials
