Job Description
Are you passionate about cybersecurity and eager to kickstart your career in a dynamic and critical field? BT Group is looking for enthusiastic and driven individuals to join our team as Junior Cybersecurity Threat Analysts. This is an entry-level, 100% remote position with full training provided, specifically designed for those with little to no prior experience but a strong aptitude and willingness to learn. You will play a crucial role in our night shift operations, monitoring and responding to security threats, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our systems and data. This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn from industry experts and develop foundational skills in threat detection, analysis, and incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools (SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS) during night shift hours.
- Perform initial triage and analysis of security incidents to determine scope, impact, and potential root cause.
- Escalate confirmed security incidents to senior analysts or incident response teams following established protocols.
- Document all security events, incidents, and actions taken in a clear and concise manner.
- Assist in the development and refinement of security monitoring procedures and playbooks.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow in cybersecurity.
- Basic understanding of computer networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ – or willingness to obtain).
- Academic background or coursework in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Any prior experience with security tools or concepts (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, antivirus).
