Job Description
Are you a nursing student passionate about making a real difference in patient care? Legacy Health invites aspiring healthcare professionals to join our team as a Junior Nursing Assistant (Student) with a specialized Care Focus. This is an incredible opportunity for current nursing students to gain hands-on experience, apply classroom knowledge in a practical setting, and contribute directly to patient well-being under the guidance of experienced medical staff. This role is designed to support your development, providing a foundational understanding of clinical operations, direct patient interaction, and the essential skills required for a successful nursing career. You will be an integral part of our care teams, focusing on delivering compassionate and attentive support to patients in various hospital settings. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal entry point for individuals eager to grow their skills in a dynamic and supportive healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Help patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comforting atmosphere.
- Document care provided accurately and timely in patient records.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
- Strong desire to learn and develop practical patient care skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of at least one clinical rotation in a nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Prior experience in a volunteer or caregiving role.
