Job Description

PEI Compassionate Care is looking for empathetic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Live-in Companion Carers in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. We provide rent-free accommodation within the client’s home and comprehensive, full training, meaning no prior professional experience in care is required. You will become an integral part of a client’s life, helping them maintain their independence and enjoy their daily routines in the comfort of their own home.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide meaningful companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Assist with light household duties, including tidying and laundry.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to dietary needs.
- Remind clients to take medications as prescribed.
- Accompany clients to appointments, social activities, and errands.
- Assist with personal care, such as dressing, grooming, and hygiene (full training provided).
- Monitor the client's well-being and report any changes in condition or concerns to the care management team.
- Ensure a safe, comfortable, and clean living environment for the client.
Required Skills
- Exceptional compassion, patience, and empathy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reliability, responsibility, and a punctual nature.
- Adaptability and a willingness to learn new caregiving techniques.
- Basic cooking skills and an understanding of healthy nutrition.

- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience providing care to a family member or friend.
- First Aid and CPR certification (training can be provided).
- A valid Canadian driver's license is beneficial for client outings.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
