Job Description
Join Purolator as a Loading Bay Operative for an immediate start on our night shift. This full-time, on-site role is critical to the efficient movement of packages and freight through our Halifax distribution center. You will be responsible for the safe and timely loading, unloading, sorting, and staging of various shipments. We are looking for reliable and physically capable individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to a fast-paced team environment. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this vital role.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload freight and packages from trucks and trailers.
- Sort, scan, and stage shipments accurately according to company procedures and destinations.
- Operate various material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and potentially forklifts (training provided for certification, if required).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the loading bay area.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed to support operations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet daily operational targets and deadlines.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages regularly (up to 70 lbs) throughout a shift.
- Physical stamina and endurance to perform demanding tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipments.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all operational guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality, particularly for night shift operations.
- Basic communication and comprehension skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar physically demanding role is an asset.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) or a valid certification is a plus, but not required as training will be provided.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
