Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately file, retrieve, and maintain patient medical records, both physical and electronic.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist clinical staff with requests for patient charts and information.
  • Scan and index various medical documents into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Perform quality checks on medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries for medical record information while adhering to proper authorization procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate smooth information flow.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort with data entry.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A strong willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office administrative role (not necessarily medical).
