Job Description
Atkins Global is seeking a talented and dedicated Meteorologist / Climate Scientist to join our dynamic Environmental Consulting team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical climate change adaptation and resilience projects across various sectors. The role involves applying meteorological and climate science expertise to environmental impact assessments, strategic planning, and risk management initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed meteorological and climate data analysis, including historical trends and future projections.
- Develop and apply climate models to assess impacts on infrastructure, natural environments, and human systems.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and scientific papers for clients and stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice on climate change adaptation strategies and mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale environmental and engineering projects.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing and client engagement.
Required Skills
- Master's degree or PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Climate Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience with climate modeling tools and statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python, GIS).
- Strong understanding of climate change science, atmospheric processes, and their environmental implications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., Royal Meteorological Society).
- Experience in environmental consultancy or a similar client-facing role.
- Familiarity with UK climate policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Project management experience, particularly in climate resilience or adaptation projects.
