Job Description

Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to learn about sustainable forestry? Midwest Timber Resources is seeking a motivated Forestry & Timber Management Intern to join our team in a rural setting near Baldwin City, KS. This is an unparalleled opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience to gain hands-on training and foundational knowledge in timberland management, forest health, and conservation practices. You will work closely with experienced foresters and field crews, supporting various projects critical to our operations. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this role, making it an ideal entry point into the forestry industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist foresters with timber cruising, stand assessments, and inventory data collection in the field.
  • Support the marking and scaling of timber for harvest operations.
  • Participate in reforestation and tree planting initiatives.
  • Learn and apply GIS/GPS technologies for mapping and data management.
  • Conduct visual inspections of forest health, identifying potential pests, diseases, or environmental concerns.
  • Assist with basic equipment maintenance and field safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities and data.
  • Collaborate with team members on various forestry projects as assigned.

  • Familiarity with GIS software or GPS devices is a plus, but not required.
