Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Mining Engineer to join our operations team in Charlotte, NC. This critical role involves the planning, design, and optimization of mining operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with environmental regulations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in geological resource assessment, mine planning, infrastructure design, and the implementation of best practices in our quarries. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mine plans, including pit design, haul road layouts, and waste rock management strategies.
  • Conduct geological surveys and resource modeling to optimize extraction and utilization of mineral reserves.
  • Monitor and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement in productivity, cost efficiency, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local mining regulations and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and environmental teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Implement and oversee safety protocols and training programs for mining personnel.
  • Utilize specialized software for mine design, scheduling, and geological modeling.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in surface mining operations.
  • Proficiency with mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Strong understanding of rock mechanics, blasting techniques, and materials handling.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with aggregate mining operations.
  • Knowledge of North Carolina mining regulations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
