Job Description
Are you passionate about education and eager to explore alternative teaching methodologies? Island Montessori Academy is offering an exciting entry-level internship opportunity for a Montessori & Alternative Education Intern. This role is perfect for individuals with little to no prior experience in a classroom setting, providing comprehensive on-the-job training and mentorship. You will gain practical experience in a dynamic Montessori environment, supporting lead educators and contributing to a positive learning atmosphere. This internship is designed to build foundational skills and introduce you to the principles and practices of Montessori education.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with daily classroom activities and routines.
- Support individual and small groups of students during learning activities.
- Help prepare and maintain a tidy, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Observe and learn various Montessori teaching techniques and child development principles.
- Participate in planning and execution of special classroom projects or events.
- Provide supervision during outdoor play, meal times, and nap periods.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as preparing materials or record-keeping.
- Engage actively in professional development sessions and team meetings.

- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
