Job Description
Are you meticulous, reliable, and eager to learn? Impression 5 Science Center is seeking a Museum Exhibit Installation Assistant to join our dedicated team. This entry-level position is perfect for someone who takes pride in careful work and is looking for an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant educational institution. No prior experience in exhibit installation is required – we provide comprehensive training in all aspects of exhibit handling, setup, and maintenance. Your primary role will be to assist with the careful installation, de-installation, and movement of exhibits, ensuring their safety and pristine condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior staff with the careful installation and de-installation of museum exhibits according to detailed plans and instructions.
- Handle delicate exhibit components, artifacts, and equipment with extreme care to prevent damage.
- Help with the movement and storage of exhibit materials, ensuring proper packing and organization.
- Learn and apply best practices for exhibit preparation, display, and maintenance.
- Support routine maintenance and cleaning of exhibits to ensure optimal functionality and presentation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, volunteers, and other departments.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during exhibit handling and installation processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the exhibits department.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and pay close attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrated ability to work carefully and precisely with hands.
- Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong team player with good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Interest in museums, science, education, or hands-on environments.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools (training will be provided).
