Job Description

Are you passionate about nature, conservation, and helping people connect with the outdoors? The Broads Authority is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as National Park Rangers. This entry-level position is perfect for those looking to start a career in environmental protection and public service. You will live and work within the stunning landscapes of the Broads National Park, undertaking a variety of tasks that contribute directly to the preservation of its unique ecosystem and the safety and enjoyment of its visitors. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience but a strong desire to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of trails, footpaths, and park infrastructure.
  • Engage with park visitors, providing information, guidance, and promoting responsible use of the park.
  • Support wildlife monitoring and habitat management projects.
  • Conduct routine patrols to ensure visitor safety and adherence to park regulations.
  • Participate in educational and interpretive programs for the public.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies within the park, providing assistance as needed.
  • Undertake practical conservation tasks, including invasive species removal and habitat restoration.
  • Assist with the collection of data for ecological surveys and visitor management.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and incidents.

  • Full UK driving license (or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer experience in conservation or outdoor recreation.
  • Knowledge of local flora, fauna, or history of The Broads.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with basic hand tools or outdoor equipment.
  • An interest in environmental education or interpretation.
