Job Description

Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to start a career protecting and sharing our natural heritage? We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Entry-Level National Park Rangers. This is a unique opportunity to live and work amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Northumberland National Park. No prior experience as a Ranger is required; we provide comprehensive training to equip you with all the skills needed to succeed. You will play a vital role in maintaining the park, engaging with visitors, and contributing to conservation efforts, all while developing a deep understanding of park management and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the maintenance of footpaths, bridleways, and park infrastructure.
  • Engage positively with park visitors, providing information, guidance, and promoting responsible use of the park.
  • Support conservation projects, including habitat restoration and wildlife monitoring.
  • Conduct routine patrols to ensure visitor safety, enforce park regulations, and report any issues.
  • Participate in educational and interpretive programs for schools and community groups.
  • Assist in emergency response situations, including search and rescue support and first aid.
  • Record and report data related to visitor numbers, wildlife sightings, and maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and local communities on various park initiatives.

  • Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic first aid certification.
  • Experience in customer service or public interaction.
  • Knowledge of local flora, fauna, or geology.
  • Any voluntary experience in conservation or outdoor activities.
