Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist specializing in Pediatrics to join our multidisciplinary team in Gulfport, Mississippi. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Occupational Therapist, including those from international backgrounds, to make a significant impact on the developmental journey of children. The successful candidate will assess, plan, and implement individualized therapy programs for pediatric patients with a wide range of developmental, physical, and cognitive challenges. You will work closely with families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes and promote independent living skills for our young patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for pediatric patients (ages birth to 18) with various diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focusing on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, visual-perceptual skills, self-care activities, and play skills.
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions and therapeutic techniques to maximize patient potential.
  • Educate and collaborate with parents, caregivers, and teachers on therapeutic strategies and home programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, treatment progress, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care and ensure holistic patient management.
  • Adhere to all professional standards, ethical guidelines, and state/federal regulations.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff or students as required.

Required Skills

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current or eligible for Occupational Therapist licensure in the State of Mississippi.
  • Strong clinical skills in pediatric assessment and treatment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient, family, and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse patient populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in a pediatric setting (outpatient, inpatient, or school-based).
  • Certification in specific pediatric therapy approaches (e.g., Sensory Integration, NDT).
  • Experience with international licensure and credentialing processes.
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to the local community.
