Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Oceanographer or Marine Biologist to join our dynamic research team in Boca Raton, FL. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field research, including marine organism sampling, water quality testing, and oceanographic data collection.
- Perform laboratory analyses of samples (e.g., genetic, chemical, microbiological) using standard protocols.
- Analyze complex datasets using statistical software and generate scientific reports and presentations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of research proposals and experimental designs.
- Operate and maintain specialized scientific equipment and instrumentation.
- Contribute to scientific publications and present findings at conferences.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and ethical research practices.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Oceanography, Marine Biology, Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience (minimum 2 years post-degree) in marine field data collection and laboratory analysis.
- Proficiency with scientific software for data analysis (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB, ArcGIS).
- Strong understanding of marine ecosystems, oceanographic principles, and conservation challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate small research vessels (or willingness to learn).
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant marine science discipline.
- Experience with advanced instrumentation (e.g., ROVs, AUVs, CTDs).
- PADI Open Water Diver certification or higher.
