Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Public Utilities Meter Reader to join our team in Orlando, FL. This role offers the opportunity for independent outdoor work, allowing you to manage your daily route and contribute directly to our utility services. As a Meter Reader, you will be responsible for accurately reading electric and gas meters, identifying potential issues, and ensuring timely data collection crucial for billing and service reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately read and record meter data from electric and gas meters using handheld devices.
- Efficiently plan and execute daily routes within an assigned territory, ensuring all meters are read on schedule.
- Identify and report any damaged meters, hazardous conditions, or unusual circumstances to the appropriate department.
- Walk and navigate various terrains, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties, in all weather conditions.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding route progress and any encountered issues.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
- Physical stamina to walk extensive routes daily in varying weather conditions.
- Good observational skills to identify and report abnormalities.
- Basic computer literacy for operating handheld reading devices.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a role requiring outdoor work or route-based tasks.
- Familiarity with the Orlando, FL metropolitan area.
- Experience using handheld electronic devices for data entry.
