Job Description
Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to share your knowledge with others? REI is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Outdoor & Camping Gear Outfitter to join our San Francisco team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for customers seeking the perfect gear for their next adventure, from weekend camping trips to multi-day backpacking expeditions. You will provide exceptional customer service, offer expert advice on product selection, and ensure a seamless shopping experience. Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand their outdoor needs and recommend appropriate camping and outdoor gear.
- Provide in-depth product knowledge, demonstrating features and benefits of various equipment.
- Assist customers with fitting tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, and other gear.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently at the point of sale.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, ensuring products are well-stocked and merchandised.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and uphold REI's commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Stay informed about new products, industry trends, and outdoor activities.
Required Skills
- Proven customer service or retail sales experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, backpacking, or climbing.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for point-of-sale systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with outdoor recreation equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of specific outdoor gear categories (e.g., tents, sleeping bags, cooking systems).
- Experience with visual merchandising or inventory management.
- Multilingual abilities, especially Spanish or Cantonese, are a plus.
