Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Midwife to join our dynamic team within the Coventry and Warwickshire region. This role involves providing high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care to women and their families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum (home birth component), and postnatal periods within a community setting. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of women, promoting choice, and empowering families, while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care (for home births) in community settings.
  • Manage an allocated caseload of women, ensuring continuity of care and support.
  • Conduct home visits for assessments, education, and support.
  • Identify and refer women with complex needs to appropriate specialist services.
  • Deliver parent education classes and support groups.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to NMC guidelines and Trust policies.
  • Participate in clinical audits and contribute to service development.
  • Act as an advocate for women and their families, promoting their choices and preferences.
  • Support junior colleagues and student midwives through mentorship and supervision.

Required Skills

  • Current valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Midwife.
  • BSc (Hons) in Midwifery or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable post-registration experience working as a Midwife, with some experience in a community or integrated setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
  • Proficiency in electronic patient record systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NIPE qualification (Newborn and Infant Physical Examination).
  • Previous experience managing a community caseload.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to community midwifery.
