Job Description

Are you passionate about international affairs, human rights, and the complex dynamics of peace and conflict? The Global Peace Initiatives Institute offers a unique opportunity for an aspiring professional to gain hands-on experience in the field of peacebuilding and conflict resolution. As an Intern, you will work closely with our expert researchers and policy analysts, contributing to ongoing projects, data collection, and report development. This is an entry-level position designed to provide foundational knowledge and practical skills in a dynamic think tank environment. We are looking for individuals eager to learn, contribute, and make a tangible impact on global peace initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior researchers with data collection, literature reviews, and qualitative/quantitative analysis for ongoing peacebuilding projects.
  • Contribute to the drafting of research reports, policy briefs, articles, and other publications.
  • Monitor current events and geopolitical developments relevant to peace and conflict resolution.
  • Prepare summaries of key findings, policy recommendations, and background materials for internal meetings and external presentations.
  • Support the organization of workshops, seminars, and outreach events.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the research team's operations.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in International Relations, Political Science, Peace Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, international development, or human rights.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with qualitative or quantitative research methodologies.
  • Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Arabic, French, Spanish).
  • Experience with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, NVivo) is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a volunteer or academic research capacity.
