Job Description

Mercy Health is seeking compassionate and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Personal Care Offsiders. This entry-level role is perfect for those with no prior experience in social care, as we provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to help you succeed. As a Personal Care Offsider, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals to maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life, both in their homes and within community settings in Wodonga and surrounding areas. This is a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience, develop essential caregiving skills, and contribute positively to our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance including showering, dressing, and grooming.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding as required.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers, using aids where necessary.
- Perform light domestic duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities and conversations.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in client condition.
- Adhere to care plans, policies, and procedures to ensure client safety and well-being.
Required Skills
- Strong desire to help and support others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a compassionate nature.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and commit to ongoing training.
- Current Australian Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle (essential for community support).
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working rights in Australia.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain quickly).
- Previous volunteer experience in a caring role.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping.
