Are you a pet enthusiast with a passion for helping others provide the best care for their furry, feathered, or scaled friends? Pet Valu in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pet Food Store Nutritional Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for pet parents seeking advice on nutrition, health, and general pet care. You’ll engage customers, provide personalized recommendations, and contribute to a welcoming and informative retail environment. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and engage them in conversations about their pets' needs.
- Provide expert advice on pet nutrition, including different food types, dietary requirements, and specific health concerns.
- Educate customers on various pet products, supplements, and accessories, explaining their benefits and proper usage.
- Assist customers in selecting the right products tailored to their pets' species, age, breed, and health conditions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store environment, ensuring products are merchandised effectively.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide exceptional service to foster customer loyalty.
- Participate in ongoing training and product knowledge sessions to stay current with pet industry trends and nutritional science.
- Support store management in achieving sales targets and operational goals.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and organizing merchandise.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for animals and their well-being.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to lift and carry merchandise weighing up to 25 kg (50 lbs) regularly.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by retail schedules.
- Customer service experience, preferably in a retail setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in pet retail, veterinary clinics, or animal care.
- Knowledge of various pet food brands, ingredients, and nutritional principles.
- Certification in pet nutrition or animal health is a significant asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
