Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Engineer to join our dynamic team in Swansea. The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimizing production processes, ensuring operational efficiency, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing facility. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve overall production throughput. You will be responsible for identifying areas for improvement, implementing solutions, and driving lean manufacturing principles across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production costs.
- Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing operations.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production failures and implement sustainable solutions.
- Manage and execute capital improvement projects from conception to completion.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Train and mentor production staff on new processes and equipment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering or production engineering role.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Professional certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Experience in the automotive industry or a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and automation systems.
