Job Description
We are seeking vigilant and dedicated Public Transit Security Officers to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. This crucial role involves ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff, and property across various public transit platforms and vehicles. Officers will perform regular patrols, respond to incidents, and maintain a visible presence to deter unlawful activities. This is a full-time position requiring shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and comes with a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of transit stations, platforms, and vehicles to maintain a visible security presence.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and passenger complaints.
- Enforce transit rules and regulations, and address violations appropriately.
- Provide assistance and information to passengers as needed.
- Document all incidents, observations, and actions taken in detailed reports.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
- Conduct passenger bag checks and property inspections as per protocol.
- De-escalate conflicts and manage disorderly conduct in a professional manner.
- Perform initial first aid and CPR when required.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required security licenses and certifications (e.g., Level I or II Security Guard License).
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for report writing.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in transit security, public safety, or military service.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Advanced de-escalation training.
- Knowledge of local public transit systems and routes.
- Bilingual skills (especially Spanish).
