Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Radiography Assistant to join our busy team at Northern Diagnostic Centre in Gateshead. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a keen interest in healthcare and patient support to contribute to vital diagnostic services. The Radiography Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the imaging department by providing essential support to Radiographers and ensuring an efficient and comfortable experience for all patients. You will assist with patient preparation, equipment setup, and general administrative tasks, working in a fast-paced but supportive environment. Full training pertinent to the role will be provided, but prior experience in a healthcare setting is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Radiographers with patient preparation for various imaging procedures, including positioning and explaining the process.
  • Provide excellent patient care, ensuring comfort, safety, and privacy throughout their visit.
  • Prepare and maintain radiography equipment and rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for examinations.
  • Assist with patient transfer and mobility as required.
  • Process and manage patient records accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage stock levels of supplies and linen, ensuring availability.
  • Support the administrative functions of the department, including answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and departmental protocols.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare support role (e.g., Healthcare Assistant, Ward Assistant).
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
