Job Description
Join Queensland Rail as a Railway Station Assistant in Cairns and play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations and exceptional customer service within our public transport infrastructure. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about helping people, thrive in a dynamic environment, and are committed to maintaining the highest safety standards. You will be the face of Queensland Rail, assisting passengers with their journey and contributing to the efficient running of our stations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service, assisting passengers with enquiries, ticketing, and journey planning.
- Ensure the safety and security of passengers and staff on platforms and within station premises, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Operate ticketing machines and point-of-sale systems, handling cash and electronic transactions accurately.
- Announce train arrivals, departures, and any service disruptions clearly and professionally.
- Assist passengers with special needs, including those requiring mobility assistance.
- Monitor station cleanliness and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Respond to emergency situations according to established procedures, coordinating with relevant personnel.
