Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and licensed professional to join our dynamic Engineering & Trades team in Maitland. As a Licensed Expert, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence, safety, and compliance across various engineering and trade projects. This role requires a professional with a valid trade license or engineering certification, coupled with extensive practical experience and a commitment to quality workmanship. You will be responsible for overseeing project execution, providing expert guidance, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering and trade projects.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict adherence to relevant Australian standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough inspections and quality control checks to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively, offering innovative solutions.
- Mentor and train junior tradespeople and apprentices, fostering their professional development.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and compliance records.
- Implement and promote best practices in workplace safety and environmental management.
- Participate in site meetings, risk assessments, and project planning sessions.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Trade License (e.g., Electrician, Fitter, Plumber, Boilermaker) OR relevant Engineering Certification/Degree.
- Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant engineering or trade discipline.
- Thorough understanding of Australian Standards, building codes, and WHS regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in fault finding, diagnostics, and problem-solving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of leading and mentoring.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisor or management certification (e.g., Cert IV in Leadership and Management).
- Experience with project management methodologies and software.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- High-risk work licenses relevant to the trade (e.g., EWP, confined spaces, working at heights).
- Previous experience in a heavy industry, infrastructure, or resources environment.
