Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Remote Subtitle & Caption Writers. This is a fantastic work-from-home opportunity for anyone with strong English language skills and a keen eye for detail, no prior experience in subtitling is required as full training will be provided. In this role, you will watch various video content – from documentaries and films to corporate training materials and social media clips – and accurately transcribe spoken dialogue, sound effects, and relevant on-screen text into subtitles and captions. Your work ensures content is accessible and engaging for a wider audience, including those with hearing impairments or viewers who prefer to watch with captions. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the convenience of working from your own home.
Key Responsibilities
- Watch video content meticulously and accurately transcribe all spoken dialogue and significant on-screen text.
- Identify and describe non-speech elements relevant to the narrative, such as sound effects or music cues, for captioning.
- Synchronize subtitles and captions precisely with the audio and video, ensuring correct timing and readability.
- Adhere strictly to style guides, client specifications, and industry best practices for captioning and subtitling.
- Review and proofread your own work to ensure grammatical correctness, spelling accuracy, and overall quality.
- Manage assigned projects and deadlines effectively from a remote home office environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to concentrate for extended periods and follow complex instructions.
- Proficient typing speed and computer literacy.
