Job Description
Are you passionate about sports and looking for a hands-on career where you can learn valuable skills? Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Athletic Equipment Repair Technician. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required – we will provide comprehensive training to ensure you succeed. You will work in a workshop environment, focusing on the repair, maintenance, and preparation of various athletic equipment, ensuring it meets safety and performance standards for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in extensive on-the-job training to learn repair techniques for a wide range of athletic equipment.
- Perform basic cleaning, inspection, and maintenance of sporting goods.
- Assist in diagnosing issues and performing repairs on items such as bicycles, fitness equipment, and other sporting gear.
- Safely operate various hand and power tools under supervision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and repair guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding repair status and inventory needs.
- Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and excellent customer service.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and willingness to learn new technical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools (no prior experience required).
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently after training.
- Good manual dexterity and physical stamina for workshop tasks.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A genuine interest in sports, outdoor activities, or equipment mechanics.
- Prior experience in a hands-on or trade-related hobby is a plus, but not required.
