Job Description

Join our dedicated team as a Reservoir & Dam Maintenance Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our water infrastructure and ensuring public safety. This secure government job offers a unique opportunity to contribute to essential public services, maintaining the integrity and operational efficiency of reservoirs and dams in the Stratford-upon-Avon area. You will receive comprehensive training to support experienced technicians in routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine inspections of reservoir and dam structures, spillways, and surrounding land.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks on dam components, gates, and other equipment under supervision.
  • Support the setup and monitoring of instrumentation for structural integrity and water levels.
  • Clear debris, vegetation, and maintain access routes around reservoir sites.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and observations.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and procedures as required.

Required Skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn practical skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
  • A valid UK driving license is essential for travel between sites.
  • Excellent communication skills.
