Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Reservoir & Dam Maintenance Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our water infrastructure and ensuring public safety. This secure government job offers a unique opportunity to contribute to essential public services, maintaining the integrity and operational efficiency of reservoirs and dams in the Stratford-upon-Avon area. You will receive comprehensive training to support experienced technicians in routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine inspections of reservoir and dam structures, spillways, and surrounding land.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks on dam components, gates, and other equipment under supervision.
- Support the setup and monitoring of instrumentation for structural integrity and water levels.
- Clear debris, vegetation, and maintain access routes around reservoir sites.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and observations.
- Participate in emergency response drills and procedures as required.
Required Skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn practical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- A valid UK driving license is essential for travel between sites.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manual labour role, ideally outdoors or in a construction/utility setting.
