Job Description
Siemens Canada is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Robotics & Automation Intern to join our innovative Research & Development Department in Moncton, New Brunswick. This is an exceptional opportunity for an aspiring engineer or computer scientist to gain hands-on experience in the cutting-edge fields of robotics, industrial automation, and control systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers and researchers, contributing to real-world projects, assisting in the development of prototypes, and exploring new technologies. This internship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the R&D lifecycle, fostering your professional growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of robotic systems and automation solutions.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies in robotics, AI, and industrial IoT.
- Support the integration of hardware and software components for automated systems.
- Perform data collection and analysis to optimize system performance.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including project progress reports and experimental results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on problem-solving and innovation initiatives.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to new concept generation.
- Learn and apply best practices in software development, hardware integration, and project management.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
- Basic understanding of robotics principles, control systems, or automation concepts.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Eagerness to learn, a proactive attitude, and a strong desire to contribute.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
- Familiarity with robotic operating systems (ROS) or industrial automation platforms (e.g., PLCs, SCADA).
- Experience with simulation tools for robotics or automation.
- Participation in robotics competitions, hackathons, or relevant personal projects.
- Basic understanding of sensor technologies and data acquisition systems.
