Job Description

Siemens Canada is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Robotics & Automation Intern to join our innovative Research & Development Department in Moncton, New Brunswick. This is an exceptional opportunity for an aspiring engineer or computer scientist to gain hands-on experience in the cutting-edge fields of robotics, industrial automation, and control systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers and researchers, contributing to real-world projects, assisting in the development of prototypes, and exploring new technologies. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of robotic systems and automation solutions.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in robotics, AI, and industrial IoT.
  • Support the integration of hardware and software components for automated systems.
  • Perform data collection and analysis to optimize system performance.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including project progress reports and experimental results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on problem-solving and innovation initiatives.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to new concept generation.
  • Learn and apply best practices in software development, hardware integration, and project management.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
  • Basic understanding of robotics principles, control systems, or automation concepts.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn, a proactive attitude, and a strong desire to contribute.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • Familiarity with robotic operating systems (ROS) or industrial automation platforms (e.g., PLCs, SCADA).
  • Experience with simulation tools for robotics or automation.
  • Participation in robotics competitions, hackathons, or relevant personal projects.
  • Basic understanding of sensor technologies and data acquisition systems.
