Job Description
Lakehead Public Schools is seeking an exceptional and visionary School Principal / Headmaster to lead one of our esteemed educational institutions. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader to make a significant impact on student achievement, staff development, and community relations within a supportive school board. Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the school, aligning with the Board's mission and goals.
- Oversee all aspects of school operations, including curriculum implementation, student services, and facility management.
- Develop and maintain a positive school culture that promotes student success, staff morale, and parent engagement.
- Manage and evaluate teaching staff, fostering professional growth and high-quality instruction.
- Implement and monitor student assessment strategies to drive continuous improvement in academic outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant educational policies, regulations, and legal requirements.
- Develop and manage the school budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource allocation for maximum impact.
- Foster strong relationships with parents, community members, and external partners.
- Lead initiatives for student well-being, discipline, and inclusive education practices.
- Recruit, train, and mentor staff to build a high-performing educational team.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably as a Vice-Principal or Principal.
- Strong understanding of educational pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
- Proficiency in strategic planning, organizational management, and problem-solving.
- In-depth knowledge of provincial education legislation and policies (Ontario preferred).
- Exceptional conflict resolution and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in educational technology and data-driven instructional improvement.
- Valid Ontario Principal's Qualifications (PQP) or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with diverse student populations and inclusive education models.
- Demonstrated success in improving academic outcomes and school performance.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation within a school setting.
- Familiarity with the Thunder Bay community and local educational landscape.
