Job Description
FargoDome Arena Operations is seeking a dedicated and physically capable individual to join our team as a Rodeo Dirt Raker / Arena Prep specialist. This temporary position is crucial for maintaining the high standards of our rodeo arena, ensuring optimal conditions for livestock and participants. The role involves demanding physical labor, operating machinery, and working in dusty conditions to prepare and maintain the arena surface before, during, and after rodeo events. If you have a strong work ethic, are comfortable with heavy lifting, and can work effectively in a dynamic event environment, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and arena groomers to rake, level, and prepare the dirt surface.
- Perform manual labor including shoveling, raking, and hand-dressing the arena dirt.
- Water and compact arena surfaces to achieve desired consistency and safety standards.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down arena infrastructure including fences, chutes, and barrels.
- Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate event schedules.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and arena operational guidelines.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous labor in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Basic understanding of heavy equipment operation (e.g., tractor, skid steer) or willingness to learn quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Comfortable working in dusty and noisy environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating farm equipment or arena maintenance machinery.
- Experience in a rodeo or livestock event setting.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of rodeo event requirements and arena specifications.
