Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Roller Coaster Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team in Mississauga. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply fundamental engineering principles to exciting and complex structures, gaining hands-on experience in the design and analysis of amusement rides. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to various stages of project development and learning about structural integrity, dynamics, and safety standards specific to the attractions industry. This role is perfect for a student passionate about engineering and the thrill of designing unforgettable experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with structural analysis and design calculations for various components of amusement rides.
  • Conduct research on materials, construction techniques, and safety regulations relevant to roller coaster design.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create or modify technical drawings and models.
  • Support the development of project documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Participate in design reviews and team meetings, providing input and learning from feedback.
  • Help with data collection and analysis related to ride performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure project success and adherence to specifications.
  • Learn and apply industry-specific codes and standards to design work.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's degree program in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Strong foundational understanding of engineering mechanics, materials science, and structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in basic CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated passion for amusement rides, theme parks, or complex structural design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous coursework or projects related to structural dynamics, vibrations, or finite element analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, ANSYS).
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis or automation.
  • Active participation in engineering clubs, design competitions, or relevant student organizations.
