Job Description
Are you passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and contributing to a positive school environment? Randstad Education is seeking dedicated School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) to join government schools across NSW and VIC, with immediate opportunities available in the greater Sydney region, including Parramatta. This role is crucial in assisting teachers to deliver engaging educational programs and providing direct support to students, particularly those with additional learning or behavioural requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Support students with special education needs, behavioural challenges, or learning difficulties.
- Assist teachers in preparing classroom materials, resources, and learning aids.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, playground duty, and excursions.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans as directed.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other school staff regarding student progress and wellbeing.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students.
- Assist with student personal care and mobility where required, always respecting student dignity.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting young people.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work with diverse student needs and classroom settings.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Willingness to undertake a Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Education Support or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working with children or young people, especially in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting students with special needs or diverse learning requirements.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
