Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated team. As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our nursing staff, ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients, and contributing to a high standard of care. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
- Document patient observations, care provided, and changes in condition accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment.
- Support nurses in administering treatments and procedures as directed.
- Act as a mentor to junior healthcare assistants, providing guidance and support.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Respond to patient calls and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Healthcare Assistant or similar role.
- Excellent patient care and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
- Proficiency in monitoring vital signs and basic patient observations.
- Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients safely.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation.
- Current First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Spanish).
- Previous experience mentoring or leading a small team.
