Job Description

Join our dedicated team as a Sheriff’s Officer Assistant and play a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation of the justice system in Gosford. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public safety and service delivery within the State Government. You will provide essential administrative and operational support to Sheriff’s Officers, assisting in court processes, managing legal documentation, and engaging with the public. Full training will be provided to ensure you have the skills and knowledge required to succeed in this vital role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to Sheriff’s Officers.
  • Assist with court duties, including the preparation of courtrooms and management of juries.
  • Manage, process, and track legal documents, warrants, and summonses.
  • Respond to inquiries from legal professionals, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases in compliance with departmental procedures.
  • Liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining a secure and orderly court environment.
  • Undertake general clerical duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Australian Citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow strict protocols and procedures.
  • A valid NSW Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative support role.
  • Familiarity with the Australian legal or justice system.
  • Completion of a relevant vocational course or tertiary qualification.
